i-tunes store! Golden Ticket Gig Review ![]() The Vibe Bar in London bore witness on the 4th June to the rebirth of the 90’s rock and power pop band Let Loose. Best known for their huge Summer anthem Crazy For You, the band also stood out from the then plethora of boy bands because they played their own instruments, penned their own hits and didn’t dance ! Frontman, lead vocalist , songwriter and sometime producer Richie Wermerling is the driving force behind this reincarnation, Lee Murray had some input into the recent album release and Rob Jeffrey hasn’t fully ruled out a future interest but the vast majority of the tracks from the new album Paint It In Gold are fully penned and sung by Richie. The album was released independently as a limited edition on the 5th May and the new tracks had been absorbed by the fans .Richie has gathered around himself a talented young bunch of musicians with raw energy and enthusiasm, Grant Spicer, Marc Danecker , Jamie Spicer and Rob Lane have played alongside Richie for some time now , but other than a couple of warm up gigs this was the first major outing for Let Loose 09. The only question now was, would the new Let Loose 09 sound translate into a full blown live gig? Let’s get that question out of the way first, then with the answer being a resounding yes !!! The set list was a good mix of new and old, and as song after song met with excited acclaim it was clear that the guys had now fused into the new Let Loose. The old standards were in there Everybody Say, Super Sexy Real Thing and the finale Crazy For You received the full rock treatment, whilst 17 and Best In Me benefited from new acoustic arrangements. Paint It In Gold the title song from the album, and possibly the most “Let Loose ish “ was perhaps the best received new track making it a strong contender for a future single release although the haunting lyrics and strong chorus of Beggars and Thieves ran it a close second. U and Me Against The World was another moving, anthemic song. There were echoes of Richie’s days with Bottlefly in the witty lyrics of Those Days Were Fun , in which the teenage years when your wall is covered with pop posters were humorously evoked. Hearing the tracks on the album is great but to hear and see them performed live moves it to a different level. From swaying ballad to bouncing rock and back again the crowd were energized by this set list and the exciting on stage performances .If you didn’t get to this gig, make sure you do to the next, old and new fans of Let Loose will find themselves having a ball and going just a little “Crazy”. ![]() Laney Checks In.... So here we are
just a couple
of days away from 'The Gig'!! I can't believe it's come around so
quickly! I was in the USA back in February when Richie text me about a
possible show date and back then it seemed ages away. Since then
there's been a shed load of very long rehearsals and evntually things
have really come together. Anyone who knows me, knows I HATE
rehearsing, I really do. It doesn't matter what band it is or who is
playing with me, it's nothing personal, I just don't enjoy it! Maybe
it's the huge ego bubbling inside me that just wants to play live! ;) Butlins Gigs Let Loose 09 have been signed up to play a couple of Butlin's gigs this Autumn.
